The Star Baby pattern is fast, easy, and fun! The Lonestar uses only nine strips of 2.5” wide fabric. The  strip sets are cut apart, rearranged and resewn into a diamond star point! Easy Peasy! Choose your background fabric and a border fabric and call it done!  32” x 32” (or 40” x 40” with optional border). Perfect size for a baby quilt!

Star Baby Supply List

Star Baby pattern $23.50 (includes all foundation papers, template layout sheets and directions).

  • Two – One Gallon size Ziploc style plastic bags to organize your papers and fabrics. 
  • Box of Jumbo trombone style paper clips (regular paper clips, just bigger. Available at Staples, Office Depot, any office supply. Not the giant paper clips, these are about 2”.
  • Repositionable Glue Stick (The Sewing Corner has them available.) 
  • Fabric glue pen (optional, but very useful!) Fon’s and Porter or Sewline recommended.
  • Template Plastic (3" by 12" piece) for fold template. Cardstock can also be used.

General Sewing Supplies:

  • 12" Add-a-quarter ruler (Optional, but highly recommended)
  • 6" x 12" ruler (For trimming blocks after they are cut)
  • Medium size cutting mat (18" x 24") 
  • Rotary cutter 
  • Coordinating Thread
  • Flower head pins (recommended) or pins of your choice
  • Scissors 
  • Seam Ripper 

Fabrics:

  • Nine 2.5” strips of fabric. That’s right! Only nine strips of fabric! See note on next page about selecting and placement of the strips.
  • Background fabric – 3/4 yards  (The light pastel green fabric is the background fabric in the pattern picture.) 


Please have your papers and fabrics cut out before class. Instructions are included in the pattern, and a free video is available here: https://youtu.be/A-Nle7az_9U  We will not have time to help you cut out papers in class, so please reach out if you need help.
